Acquisitions and Freedom Part II
So my friend and colleague, Brandy Eddings, posted some news last week about the acquisition of New Edge Media by its primary investor. While that investor has gone out of their way to ensure the team is taken care of, I have come to the conclusion that it was not the right place for me.
While I continue working with current clients, I am opening up to bringing on a few more. There is a new page on this site that explains what services I am offering and some special site/account review packages. I want to focus on helping small businesses with their local search campaigns, small niche businesses with paid campaigns, and doing site reviews. No budget is too small, and of course if Ford wants any help, I’d be happy to oblige them as well.
This is going to be the start of a brand new chapter in my life, and I can’t wait to share with you all. The next month will be very exciting for me with this semester finishing, starting work on my thesis, speaking at SMX London, and attending SMX Advanced. If you are at any of these, please come find me and say hi!

Exciting news, Kate! I just quit my in-house SEO job 2 weeks ago to be an independent consultant. Recession be damned!
I saw you speak for the first time at Pubcon 2009 (Austin) and was very impressed. Some of these seasoned SEO professionals have the wisdom, but not the speaking chops, and you definitely have both.
Thanks Adrienne! Will you be in Seattle again this year? Hopefully not as cold as we were last time!
That’s awesome, Kate, congrats! It will definitely be an exciting time for you, let me know if I can help in any way.
Super excited for you lady! Oh and I simply cannot wait to see you at SMX. Did you notice that SMX and smexie are kinda the same? Just sayin’
We are going to ROCK it!
SMX, SMEXIE – yep, definitely some similarities there. It was fate!!
We are going to be at the Edgewater for everyone else attending SMX Advanced!
