State of Search is doing something awesome, a campaign for the WWF (here is the US side) called "The Panda Made Me Do It." Targeted at search marketers (giggle), it's a drive to let others know about how they can help our world and endangered species in many ways.
I chose to adopt a tiger on the US site (pending, was having some issues over there) but if I got to choose on the UK site, it would have been to sponsor an acre of forest. No ...

Just making it known, I am testing something but if you're up for an inspired post regardless, read on.
I have spent the last year working with an image powerhouse. The power of images is great, an untapped source of traffic for sure. I am a search marketer that is all about the conversion, but if all you want it traffic, images are just awesome and long tail. What's just so sharable? Images. Why do you think we take data and make it pretty ...

Updated (Like 2 hours later) - They've done it! The ad below goes to the Bossa Nova dress in the ad. <3 Thank you!
Dear ModCloth,
I love your Facebook ads, they are one of the few that work for me ... repeatedly. I even bought one once, took it with me to Mexico and it was even borrowed from a friend! Great stuff.
On the left, myself and Lauren Polinsky. To the right, Kristy Bolsinger wearing the same Plum Role ...

There is a lot of buzz around the 17 Day Diet, a new fad where you change your eating habits every 17 days, for four rounds. I am not a fan of fad diets -- been there, done that -- but I do think there is a application to online marketing here. Many SEOs focus just on a few things, but it might be worth it to go on an SEO diet to where you change your tactics every 17 days.
I'll outline a plan below but you can edit it as you please. The goal ...

I seem to always get the inspiration to write on a plane. I think it has to do with the solitude and ability to reflect. I have not had the time to write on my personal blog for almost 7 months. Not to make excuses, but this is largely due to my job at Distilled. I have not found a position I am happier in but it takes most of my best writing ...

Last Summer I went to the Blue Glass conference in LA. Having never been to LA, I came in that weekend to see some sights and hang out with my good friend Joanna Lord as well. It was an eventful weekend including a visit to a friend's church. It was there I got to see Reese Witherspoon in person. Pretty cool huh?
But I digress. What this post is really about is the paradigm to reward those customers that bitch, moan, and complain loudly. On ...

This is going to be a quick post, but I feel it needs to be said. I am on an Alaska flight back to Austin for the weekend. I fly Alaska Airlines because they are an awesome airline in my experience and have a direct flight from Seattle to Austin. I have a feeling I'll be an MVP by the end of the year.
In addition to just being a good airline, most of their flights now have wifi. I'm on it right now actually. It's fast and very convenient, but ...

First, Happy 4th of July to all my US readers.
There are many people talking about the death of SEO. Yeah, I know, you are contemplating closing this post. Stay with me. Well, if you are a seasoned search marketing veteran, you are free to go. There is nothing here that is going to be earth shattering. But I have seen too much recently to not say something.
SEO is not going anywhere but it has changed. Long gone are the days of "tricks" ...

It is no secret that I spend a good amount of my year at conferences. In the past year, I have been working on my own and needed to be at as many as possible for networking and client development. Now that I am with Distilled, I can be a little picker about what shows I attend and how often.
When first approached about Blue Glass LA, I knew nothing about it, only that Chris Winfield, Brent Csutoras, and Tony Adam were behind it. That in and ...

Warning: This is entirely a personal post, but if you live in the Austin area and interested in a personal trainer, keep reading. Or if you're just curious about the randomness of my life.
There is a new face in the Austin Personal Training scene, and he happens to be my brother. Brian Morris just finished his certification from PFTA here in Austin. He will soon be starting as a personal trainer on some lucky gym's staff, but is also looking ...
