All my blog posts seem to start with "so my friend so and so" ... but what can I say, they give me the best ideas. So a new friend I met at PubCon South, Gregg Hilferding, told me that I only had one update on Twitter. Huh? Yes, I am a twitter n00b again. So, apparently I have one update in my stream, but as the screen shot shows, I still have 9155 updates overall. So I had someone check the API with my info, and still can't get past this ...

Social media marketing can be a great tool. I have learned more about the Austin area and its news in the past week due to the fact that the local paper joined twitter (@statesman). I've checked out new products and even thought about purchasing a few things (damn you Lisa and your cupcakes in a jar). It's a great way to get your stuff read and talked about. It's even great for link building! But don't annoy me with your fake shit. Seriously. ...

Okay, I'll admit it, I did it too. I am addicted now. But for someone in SEO, I think being on there is very important. It's another news avenue ... but really, if I keeps growing like this ... well the top industry people are gonna get annoyed. :) But for now it's great. http://www.twitter.com/katemorris More updates as I get time. Things are pretty hectic at work. We have gotten some good MSN rankings for a new project. Don't know how seeing ...

Banning Facebook Debate

This is becoming my thing. My theory that Facebook is so popular because it has yet to be banned at companies. Apparently, and not surprisingly, I'm not the only one thinking this. There is a live debate going on at TinyScreenfuls and John Bancroft's posting of Should Intel Ban Facebook? Most of the responses have been to ban it. That surprises me considering where I found the link. Jeremiah Owyang is against it, saying "If they do ban Facebook, ...

They say that marketers are the devil. All we want is your information so that we can sell you more stuff. We bog down computers with pop-ups and spyware (at least that's what people think I do when I say "Internet Marketing").Then why is it that it was a pair of internet marketers (Danny Sullivan and Lisa Barone) are the ones to notice that Facebook was posting details about people after they opted out because their friends didn't opt out?Yes, ...

From SES San Jose via SEORoundTable:The question he's been getting a lot: Is Facebook the next Google? I think they are two different things. Can Facebook get the same kind of hype? Yes, that's the "likeness" it has to GOogle.Facebook has experienced 2 tipping points according to the statistics - corporate network and opening access to anyone with an email address. There's definitely a market share increase of pages: the site broke into the top ...

Social Media Marketing: Not ...

I personally love social media and its impact on the search world. I think it had and will change a lot in marketing and the way we do business. It puts us in charge, the people, the customer, and that is the way it should always have been. MySpace, YouTube, and many others have paved the way for a new kind of world. Consumer Targeted. Alas in the B2B world, there really isn't a place for this. Traditional consumers could care less about a time ...
